"If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest for freedom, go home and leave us in peace. We seek not your council nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen." - Samuel Adams

It may just be diversionary but another possible sign of progress.

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad called for renewed peace talks with Israel on the basis of UN land-for-peace resolutions in talks with a top UN official, the official SANA news agency said yesterday.

“We must find a mechanism to relaunch talks” between Syria and Israel from where they left of in January 2000, Assad was quoted as telling UN Middle East envoy Terje Roed-Larsen late Tuesday.

As long as The Lion of Damascus' cronies surround and influence The Cub(tm), he will never be able to settle a peace agreement with Israel.
