"If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest for freedom, go home and leave us in peace. We seek not your council nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen." - Samuel Adams

Ahhhh the wonders of bureaucracy.

Saddam Hussein's diplomats are still in their U.N. offices, supported by Saddam holdovers working in the Iraqi Foreign Ministry, The Washington Times reported in its Thursday editions.

"They are civil servants, they serve Iraq, they can stay as long as they want, " said Akila Al Hashimi, acting deputy director-general of the Iraqi Foreign Ministry under the U.S.-led Coalition Provisional Authority (CPA) that runs Iraq, the newspaper reported.

U.N. spokesman Farhan Haq said the diplomats in New York, Geneva and Vienna could remain in their posts until they were replaced. "Until someone challenges the credentials in the General Assembly, they can still maintain them," Haq said, The New York Times reported.
