$100,000,000 buys lots of "sunshine".

The administration led by former President Kim Dae-jung promised North Korea $100 million and sent it through Hyundai Merchant Marine (HMM) to Pyongyang ahead of the first-ever inter-Korean summit in June, 2000, independent prosecutor Song Doo-hwan said yesterday.

Concluding a 70-day special probe into the payoff scandal, Song said during a news conference that Park Jie-won, Kim¡s top aide and then culture-tourism minister, finalized the payoff scheme when he met North Korean officials on April 8, 2000, two months before the historic summit.

$100,000,000 to show up at a photo-op and pretend that you want peace.
