"If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest for freedom, go home and leave us in peace. We seek not your council nor your arms. We should have given the sanctions more time. Saddam may have had some more children to execute in the extra months offered.

One file tells of an 11-year-old boy executed for tearing a picture of Saddam out of his schoolbook. Another tells of a Shiite, 14, imprisoned for three years and then ``hanged until dead'' in 1983 for praying daily at a mosque. This one describes a military officer imprisoned for attending the funeral of a union leader who was considered an enemy of the state. Another one describes a motorcyclist who hit a pothole and was jailed for blaming the accident on the Baath Party's failure to fix the road.
