Romano Prodi and the EU are whining because Japan's All Nippon Airways has chosen to buy Boeing instead of Airbus.

European governments are "concerned the reasons weren't entirely commercial," said Etienne Reuter, a spokesman for the European Commission. European Commission President Romano Prodi wrote a letter to Koizumi saying the decision was "not fair."

And good for Japan's response.

European officials "asked for our view on the situation," said Hatsuhisa Takashima, chief spokesman for Japan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs. "The government has no part to play," he said.
