"If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest for freedom, go home and leave us in peace. We seek not your council nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen." - Samuel Adams

With the sounds of artillery on the outskirts of Baghdad they still can't tell the truth. And the protestors expected them to be honest about disarming?

The statement was delivered by Iraqi Information Minister Mohammed Saeed al-Sahaf.

His image was strongly blurred, prompting some reports to suggest Iraq's TV capability may have been hampered by another night of air strikes on Baghdad.

"The victory will come soon," he said. "It is in our grasp."

However, he insisted Saddam was alive. "He was seen yesterday meeting with ministers," he said.

When pressed on whether he had seen the Iraqi leader personally, he told reporters it was "none of your business to ask this question".

"The President is well, the leadership are well ... and they are functioning as normal," he insisted.
