"If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest for freedom, go home and leave us in peace. We seek not your council nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen." - Samuel Adams

Leave it to someone from the Carter Administration. Cuba's oppression is all our fault.

Wayne Smith, who was the top American diplomat in Havana under President Jimmy Carter, believes Mr Castro is alarmed by the US government's attack on Saddam Hussein's regime and worries he could be next.

He said: "The Cubans have looked at what is happening in Iraq and have concluded that the US will not be restrained by international law and international institutions."

Forget that Cuba is a closed Stalinist state where Castro weilds the power of life and death over everyone in the nation. Where human rights are unheard of. It is America who is the lawbreaker that cannot be restrained.
