"If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest for freedom, go home and leave us in peace. We seek not your council nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen." - Samuel Adams

Denmark is offering troops and police to help bring order in Iraq.

Denmark offered on Friday to send military personnel and police to Iraq when fighting ends to help provide security for the reconstruction of the nation after the U.S.-led war which overthrew President Saddam Hussein.

''Denmark must assume responsibility for the reconstruction of Iraq,'' Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen told a news conference.

380 military personnel and up to 25 police officers to be sent to postwar Iraq to help with reconstruction and provide security to aid agencies.

Rasmussen said the U.S. government had requested Denmark contribute to the reconstruction once the war was over. He also said the postwar support was not dependent on a mandate from the United Nations (U.N.).

The Danes have been with us in Afghanistan, Iraq and now offer to help in post-Iraq. Chirac has to remind PM Ramussen of his place.
