"If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest for freedom, go home and leave us in peace. We seek not your council nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen." - Samuel Adams

Ahhh. The Seattle city council. They spend more than a month in a debate on the wording of a resolution to support the troops. Didn't they have anything more important and pressing to attend to?

Council members argued over references to "foreign tyrants and aggressors," and a declaration that "avoiding and ending unnecessary combat" is good way to show support.

The resolution that finally passed simply salutes the armed forces and expresses pride in their service -- eliminating any phrases that could be viewed as controversial.

You know, controversy. Like calling Saddam a foreign tyrant and aggressor.
