"If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest for freedom, go home and leave us in peace. We seek not your council nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen." - Samuel Adams

Denmark has announced that they are now at war with Iraq.

"Denmark is now at war with the regime of Saddam Hussein in Iraq," confirmed a press release from the Danish Ministry of Defence, after confusion arose late Friday following a misleading statement by an army spokesman.

Press officer Torben Schakinger had said that Denmark wasn't "officially at war with Iraq," despite the government, backed by the Danish People's Party, already having sanctioned the deployment of two Navy vessels.

The Ministry of Defence, which says it took the step on legal grounds, has now overruled this statement.

"In a combat situation, certain conditions may well apply after due consideration: rules regarding compensation for soldiers in action, or more stringent punishment for crimes under military law, such as mutiny," reads the statement.
