"If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest for freedom, go home and leave us in peace. We seek not your council nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen." - Samuel Adams

Iran's Deputy Speaker, President Khatami's brother, says there will be no tears shed for Saddam in Iran.

"If there must be a war, nobody in Iran will cry for Saddam Hussein. Our concern is for the Iraqi people who have been suffering for years under his regime," Khatami told the daily La Repubblica. "But our great worry is also the unilateral manner by which this war could be decided," said Khatami

"We demand that it is the international community that decides, in the unhappy hypothesis of a war," he said.

In a veiled reference to the United States and Britain he said: "Even if some states don't agree with the decisions of the UN, they must be respected."

"We are very concerned about the future, for a world in which those which have more power and financial means can decide to resolve problems by force," added Khatami. "War has to be the last resort. But be careful, I want to be clear: This is absolutely not an attempt to save Saddam Hussein,"
