"If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest for freedom, go home and leave us in peace. We seek not your council nor your arms. And when it comes to the that Zimbabwean thug the French continue their willful ignorance and confusing lies.

France, already embroiled in a dispute with Washington and London over Iraq, has justified its Zimbabwe stance by arguing that Mugabe's presence would help promote democracy, rule of law and human rights in his troubled southern African country.

So exactly how does Mugabe's getting to ignore the ban and sanctions help promote such ideals? I'm sure Chirac will set him straight on how to treat subjects in Africa. The French have such a good history of it. Just look at Algeria.
