"If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest for freedom, go home and leave us in peace. We seek not your council nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen." - Samuel Adams

Wow, an ode to work from Helsinki.

Anyone would naturally prefer to work for a large salary than for a small one, but if people are not interested in getting skills and they don't even have any hobbies to occupy them, why wouldn't they fill the ghastly void with a little bit of work on the side?

I freely admit, of course, that going off to work is a bit of a shock if one has got used to living without shackles, if one has for instance managed to go straight from secondary school into the dole registers, or if one has succeeded in building up a decent living as a dope-dealer.
