"If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest for freedom, go home and leave us in peace. We seek not your council nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen." - Samuel Adams

Alex Downer has said that Australia may consider sending troops to aid a US attack even if the UN does not give the go ahead. While he says the UN should review it and pass the resaolutions, I think he makes clear what he believes is the correct choice.

He says a potential Australian commitment may not be dependent on the support of the United Nations. "Whether we would accept that decision or not depends on the circumstances," he said. "Would anything happen were the United States to launch an attack without any United Nations resolution, again I think it would depend on the circumstances which arose. I think, and the point I've always made about this issue of Iraq is that this is a profoundly serious concern."
