"If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest for freedom, go home and leave us in peace. We seek not your council nor your arms. Tony Blair is standing firm on adoption of the Euro. He maintains that it must be an economic decision not political.

``Should we stand apart from the alliance right on our doorstep as a country? It would be crazy to do that,'' Blair said in a British Broadcasting Corp. interview shown Wednesday. A transcript was released by the BBC before transmission. ``It is an economic union. We shouldn't, for political reasons, stand aside,'' he added. ``I don't believe that would be a fulfillment of our national interest. I believe it would be a betrayal of our national interest.''
