Tony Blair is standing firm on adoption of the Euro. He maintains that it must be an economic decision not political.
``Should we stand apart from the alliance right on our doorstep as a country? It would be crazy to do that,'' Blair said in a British Broadcasting Corp. interview shown Wednesday. A transcript was released by the BBC before transmission. ``It is an economic union. We shouldn't, for political reasons, stand aside,'' he added. ``I don't believe that would be a fulfillment of our national interest. I believe it would be a betrayal of our national interest.''
