"If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest for freedom, go home and leave us in peace. We seek not your council nor your arms. Remember when everyone was wailing about the pressure being put on Syria over fleeing Ba'athists?

A US defence official has said that Mahmud, number four on the US list of 55 most wanted Iraqis, had told his American captors that Saddam and his sons survived the war.

Mahmud says he fled with them to Syria but they were expelled following US pressure.

Very counterproductive, that pressure, eh? And we didn't even have to go to war.
