"If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest for freedom, go home and leave us in peace. We seek not your council nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen." - Samuel Adams

A year ago Russia and Georgia were nearing hostilities. Remind me again. Whose diplomacy coold that situation enough that this could be happening?

The frontier forces of Russia, Georgia and Azerbaijan began conducting joint military training on Wednesday in Daghestan (North Caucasus) for the first time in the post-Soviet history of the Caucasus region.

The programme is aimed at increasing cooperation between the sides in guarding the state border and maintaining peace and stability of the neighbouring countries and peoples. Lieutenant General Valery Putov of the Russian frontier forces has arrived in Makhachkala to take part in the exercises as have Heads of Georgian and Azerbaijani Frontier Forces Kornely Salia and General Khalilov.
